The government of Andhra Pradesh led by newly elected Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday appointed Senior Advocate Subrahmanyam Sriram as its new Advocate General.
The appointment notification issued in the official gazette states,
“In exercise of the power conferred by Article 165 (1) of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh hereby appoints Sri Subrahmanyam Sriram Sriram as Advocate-General for the State of Andhra Pradesh with effect from the date on which he issues charge of the office.“
Sriram studied at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Law University, Aurangabad. He began his career in August 1992 in the office of the CV Ramulu, who later went on to become a judge. Sriram has also served as a Special Government Pleader between 2009 and 2011 during the YS Rajasekhara Reddy led regime, when Sitarama Murthy was the Advocate General.
Sriram replaces outgoing Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas, who had been appointed in 2016 by the earlier Chandra Babu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) regime.
