Supreme Court Collegium recommends making 6 additional judges of Bombay High Court permanent

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Collegium held on August 25.

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended that six additional judges of the Bombay High Court be confirmed as permanent judges of that High Court.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Collegium held on August 25.

The judges who have been recommended to be made permanent High Court judges are:

Justice Sanjay Anandrao Deshmukh

Justice Vrushali Vijay Joshi

Justice Abhay Jainarayanji Mantri

Justice Shyam Chhaganlal Chandak

Justice Neeraj Pradeep Dhote

Justice Somasekhar Sundaresan

Justices Sanjay Anandrao Deshmukh and Vrushali Vijay Joshi were appointed additional High Court judges in October 2022, pursuant to a September 2022 Supreme Court Collegium recommendation.

Justices Abhay Jainarayanji Mantri, Shyam Chhaganlal Chandak and Neeraj Pradeep Dhote were appointed as additional High Court judges in October 2023.

Justice Somasekhar Sundaresan was appointed an additional judge of the Bombay High Court in November 2023, ten months after the Supreme Court Collegium reiterated its earlier recommendation to elevate him as a judge in January that year.
