Supreme Court Collegium recommends transfer of 3 Allahabad High Court judges

Justices Sanjay Kumar Singh, Rohit Ranjan Agarwal and Donadi Ramesh to be moved to the High Courts of Patna, Calcutta and Andhra Pradesh, respectively.

Bar & Bench

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of three Allahabad High Court judges to different High Courts across the country.

The decision was taken in the Collegium meetings held on August 25 and August 26.

While Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh has been recommended to be moved to the Patna High Court, Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal is to be shifted to the Calcutta High Court, and Justice Donadi Ramesh has been repatriated to his parent High Court of Andhra Pradesh.

The High Court will, if the Central government clears the recommendation, get one more judge. Justice Sanjay Agrawal has been recommended for transfer from the Chhattisgarh High Court.

Notably, the Allahabad High Court has been functioning with a vacancy of 50%. The country's biggest High Court has a sanctioned strength of 160 judges, but as of August 1, 2025, it had a working strength of 80.
