Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant on Sunday said true wellness is not merely about physical fitness but about achieving harmony between the mind, body and spirit, with yoga serving as a practical path to that balance.

The Chief Justice made the remarks at the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations held at the Supreme Court's Administrative Building Complex, where he along with other judges participated in a special yoga session organised by the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA).

The programme, held under the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," was attended by Supreme Court officials, staff members and AIIA representatives.

During his address, CJI Kant emphasised the importance of incorporating yoga into everyday life rather than treating it as a one-day event.

He said that even amid the relentless workload of the Supreme Court Registry, a few minutes of conscious breathing or stretching could significantly improve the way individuals manage stress.

CJI Kant added that consistency was the real goal and encouraged people to make simple practices such as ten minutes of morning meditation or an evening stretching routine a part of their daily lives.
