Into Legal World (ILW) Institute is conducting a 40-hour Mediation Training and Certification Program starting from October 2, 2025, to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of mediation law and practical skills in mediation.
Mediation today is not just an alternative to litigation: it is fast becoming a preferred way of resolving disputes. With our courts burdened by millions of pending cases, there is a growing need for mechanisms that are quicker, cost-effective, and capable of preserving relationships.
Mediation does exactly that. Recognizing this, the BCI, through its circular dated August 13, 2020, made Mediation with Conciliation a compulsory subject in the LLB curriculum. The BCI’s vision is clear - law students and young professionals must be trained not only in the theory of mediation but also in the practical skills required to conduct it effectively.
ILW's course aims to provide participants with a well-rounded understanding of mediation, in line with the BCI's vision and syllabus.
This includes the basics of conflict and ADR, communication techniques, problem-solving strategies, drafting clear and enforceable settlement agreements, understanding the Mediation Act 2023, and exploring international developments such as ODR and the Singapore Convention on Mediation.
The aim is to ensure that participants not only understand mediation as a process but also gain the ability to conduct mediation sessions effectively and draft enforceable agreements.
