Know Your Campus Ambassador: Amanna Naren Rudra, Osmania University

Over the last two years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Amanna Naren Rudra, a fourth-year law student at Osmania University.

Why did you choose to study law?

To be forthright, I wasn’t particularly interested in law or any stream for that matter when I was in 12th but I stumbled upon CLAT after acting on the advice of my family. I started taking law seriously after I got roused by the equitable methods employed by the courts in cases of torts, contracts and crimes and how the ostensible deadlocks were fluidly worked out.

I couldn’t land myself in tier 1 NLUs and ultimately joined law in Osmania University.

It was in the second year of my law where I was asked to assist and contribute to the backend work, specifically research, for a case and I still remember the first case assigned to me- a labour law matter - and I took it as a challenge to find relevant precedents and ultimately gathered a dozen or so precedents after toiling for solid week.

I have derived a lot of glee during that week and virtually acquainted myself with the skeleton of that subject and that one week set in motion my dormant passion for law and with time, I was assigned more and more diverse work. Now, I find law to be an absolute delight!

What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?

Bar and Bench comes with a track record of being a nationally acknowledged legal news institution and I believe that by serving as a campus ambassador and performing related tasks, I might have the opportunity to network closely with other aspirational and determined peers, fellows and seniors through meets and interactions.

What are your plans after completing law?

Having been gathered a lot of experience from working on a lot of cases from the backend and internships, I have first hand experience in the background happenings - drafting agreements and court documents, interacting with clients, counselling, soliciting, etc.

I will join litigation and at the same time, since I’m fixated on policy making and environmental law and tremendously enjoy reading up on them, I plan to blend the above two streams into my professional career.
