Know your Campus Ambassador: Pushpit Singh, SLS Hyderabad

Over the last two years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Pushpit Singh, a second-year student at the Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad

Why did you choose to study law?

There was a point in my life when I considered becoming a Computer Science Graduate because the typical work style of a "coder" took my fancy. I also considered professional gaming as a career. However, I always had that nudge in me to do things differently and pave my path.

Little did I know, Law was that path of mine that I'd choose to follow as it was a field that had fascinated me since Grade 8 because of my heavy indulgence in MUNs, Debates, and Public Speaking forums. Exploring international disputes and burning issues always took my fancy.

I was outspoken since my early days of schooling and not an avid reader of fiction/non-fiction but rather of daily affairs. In other words, you can say that I saw the daily, typical courtroom exchanges as my catharsis, and thus, all these experiences amplified into me choosing Law.

What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?

Bar & Bench is an ideal platform for me to network and hone my interpersonal skills. Further, one of my characteristics is providing representation to people, and I believe that Bar & Bench is the place where I can provide my peers with the requisite representation.

In finality, as Bar & Bench primarily deals with Legal Journalism, I look forward to developing skills in that arena. I believe that it is my assets of efficiency and effectiveness that will prove to be a boon to Bar & Bench and endeavour to develop a long-term association.

What are your plans after completing law?

As of date, and probably since a very young age, I have aspired to become a Litigator. To be more precise, I desire to practice internationally, i.e., either in the U.S. or U.K.

There are times I am in a dilemma of undertaking an independent practice or an in-house practice, and in those times, I let the tide of time and flow take care of the rest.
