Axon Milbank Tweed and Allen amp Overy lead on Bharti Airtel 1 billion bond issue largest bond issue by Indian telecom

Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) B.V., an overseas subsidiary of Bharti Airtel has raised $1 billion by way of issuance of the Notes in the overseas market that was over subscribed by more than 9 times..This is the largest ever bond issue by an Indian telecom player, reports NDTV..The Joint Book Runners and Lead Managers included Barclays Bank PLC, BNP Paribas Securities Corp., Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Deutsche Bank AG, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Standard Chartered Bank and UBS AG..Axon Partners acted as domestic legal counsel to the Joint Book Runners and Lead Managers while MilbankTweed Hadley & McCloy were the US legal counsels..Axon team was led by Partners Harjeet Lall and Abhimanyu Bhandari along with Associates Vinay Sirohia and Debolina Saha..Milbank team was led by Partner Anthony Root along with Andrew Yang..Allen & Overy acted as the legal counsel for Bharti Airtel with a team led by Partner James Grandolfo along with Amit Singh and Adam Heyd..The 10-year unsecured notes had a coupon of 5.125 per cent per annum. The notes were nearly 9.5 times over-subscribed with an orderbook aggregating $9.5 billion from high quality investor accounts, reports ET.
