Study traffic rules, write essay on road accidents: Bail conditions for teen who killed two with Porsche

A Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Pune on Sunday granted bail to a 17-year-old boy who was driving a Porsche at a high speed when it hit a bike, resulting in the death of two people..Besides imposing the usual condition of parental monitoring of the juvenile, the JJB in a unique condition also directed him to submit a 300-word essay on road accidents after studying all the rules and regulations on traffic at the Regional Transport Office (RTO). "The child in conflict with law (CCL) is released on bail on executing his personal bond and surety bond of ₹7,5000 [Seven Thousand Five Hundred Rupees," the JJB said in its order. .The conditions imposed on the teenager are as follows:Parents shall take care that the CCL will not be involved in such offences in the future and kept away from bad company;Parents to keep the CCL present before the Board as and when required;The juvenile will visit the Regional Transport Office and study all rules and regulations and make a presentation of the same before the JJB within 15 days;He will also write an essay of 300 words on the effect of road accidents and its effects;He will assist a RTO officer and study traffic rules for 15 days and submit a report of the same to the JJB in 15 days;The juvenile will visit a de-addiction counselling centre and the counselling report will be submitted to the JJB.CCL has to consult a psychologist and psychiatric doctor at the Sassoon hospital in Pune and that report is to be submitted within 15 days..The juvenile, a son of a prominent builder in Pune, hit the motorcycle with his Porsche car in Kalyani Nagar area. The vehicle reportedly dragged one of the two persons on the bike and finally came to stop after hitting another two wheeler and a car. He was booked for rash and negligent driving and causing harm by endangering safety of lives and death by negligence under sections 304A, 279, 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with provisions of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Act. According to a report by The Indian Express, the juvenile was also booked under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC and is likely to be tried as a adult.The media reports also said that the juvenile's father and the pub which allegedly served liquor to the minor, were also booked by the police..Within hours of the accident, the juvenile was produced before the JJB. His lawyer advocate Prashant Patil argued that if he is released on bail, he will neither tamper with the evidence nor try to abscond from the jurisdiction of the court. The teenager's grandfather also assured the JJB that his grandson will concentrate on his studies or any vocational course and stay away from bad company.
