SUPREME COURT OF INDIA

  • Aditya N Prasad vs Union of India & Ors

Item 56 in Court 2 – W.P.(C) No. 3/2019

Bench: AK Sikri and S Abdul Nazeer JJ.

The case pertains to the rescue operation carried out to rescue the fifteen miners trapped in a coal mine in Meghalaya. During the previous hearing, the Court had directed the Centre and the State of Meghalaya to file a status and progress report on the steps taken so far in the mission.

Item 58 in Court 2 – W.P.(C) No. 1496/2018

Bench: AK Sikri and S Abdul Nazeer JJ.

This PIL brings to light the instance in a faith-based mental asylum in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh where inmates were found to be chained and tied. The petition prays for the enforcement and proper implementation of the Mental Health Act in order to safeguard the rights of the inmates.

DELHI HIGH COURT

  • Pooja Mahajan vs UOI & Ors

Item no. 26 in Court 7- W.P.(C) 49/2019 

Bench: Justice Vibhu Bakhru 

The case pertains to a challenge to the display and exhibition of the trailer of Anupam Kher-starrer ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ on YouTube and other web forums.

Today in Court: Without going into the merits of the matter, the Delhi High Court disposed of a petition assailing the trailer of the film The Accidental Prime Minister as harming the image of the post of Prime Minister of India.

This petition calls for the linking of Aadhaar with Voter ID. The Election Commission of India has informed the Court that it has no objection to the same.
