In his address, Stalin described the judgment as historic, emphasising that it was not just a victory for Tamil Nadu but a significant moment for every State across the country..Stalin said that the four senior lawyers had previously secured victories for numerous individuals, organizations and even governments but this particular triumph was unique since the victory was not limited to a single State but was a win for all States, their citizens and the very fabric of democracy..On April 8, the Supreme Court had delivered a landmark decision outlining the powers and responsibilities of the Governors regarding the bills presented to them by a State legislature for a decision under Article 200 of the Constitution of India.The Court prescribed a timeline within which a Governor must act on the bills presented to him by the state legislatures, ruling that failure to adhere to this timeline would be subject to judicial review by the courts.In the detailed judgement, a bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan also defined the contours of the powers of the President of India under Article 201 of the Constitution and prescribed timelines for the President to act with regard to bills referred to him by the Governors.
