Coronavirus: Chhattisgarh Advocate General, several others under self-quarantine after Dy AG attends gathering with foreign-returned present

Deputy Advocate General Hamida Siddiqui reportedly attended a wedding ceremony on March 22, which had more than 200 guests, including four foreign-returned.

Amidst the nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Advocate General for the State of Chhattisgarh Satish Chandra Verma and several others are reportedly under self-quarantine after the Deputy Advocate General Hamida Siddiqui attended a social gathering which had foreign-returned.

The Deputy Advocate General attended a wedding ceremony on March 22. The gathering had more than 200 guests, including four foreign-returned.

The Advocate general confirmed to Bar & Bench that he and his team of 14 lawyers are under self quarantine at their respective homes.

Thereafter, on Tuesday, the Deputy Advocate General participated in a meeting held at the Advocate General's Office .

She, however, did not inform anyone about the ceremony that she attended and sat through the meeting for around 20 minutes .

Later in the evening, when the fact came to the knowledge of the Advocate General, he informed the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police. The Administration quickly sprung into action.

The meeting was attended by 14 persons including the Additional Advocate General Alok Bakshi, other Deputy Advocate Generals and Government counsels.

All 14 are presently in self-quarantine in their homes.
