Vaish Associates' Satwinder Singh, NPS Chawla and team of 25+ lawyers exit to start Aekom Legal

Veteran lawyers at Vaish Associates Satwinder Singh and NPS Chawla, along with Principal Associates Sujoy Datta, Kalpit Khandelwal and Lokesh Dhyani, have moved out of the firm with their teams to launch Aekom Legal.

The team at Aekom will comprise these five lawyers as partners, and a team of 25+ practitioners.

Singh and Chawla were with Vaish Associates for over 24 years and 14 years respectively. Datta, Khandelwal and Dhyani also had long stints at the firm before moving out.

While the vision of Aekom is to become a full-service law firm, the initial focus areas of the firm will be corporate and securities laws matters, in-bound and out-bound transactions, mergers and acquisitions, acquisitions of stressed assets under IBC, corporate restructuring, real estate and stamp duty matters.

The firm will also focus on its dispute resolution practice including arbitration, IBC and company law matters, derivative suits, class action suits, oppression and mismanagement petitions, white collar crimes and a wide gamut of civil suits.

Commenting on the inception of Aekom Legal, Satwinder Singh said,

On the ethos of the organization, NPS Chawla said,

The name Aekom is derived from the Gurbani word Aekonkar, or “एक ॐ” in Hindi and is meant to reflect the ethical mindset, fair thinking approach and resolute integrity that are the firm’s core values.
