The Karnataka High Court has resolved to ban the entry of advocates, litigants, parties-in-person, visitors, and advocates' clerks into court premises in five districts having more than 10,000 COVID-19 cases..The said districts are Bangalore Urban, Mysuru, Tumakuru, Ballari, and Bangalore Rural..This apart, the Court's notification states:Cases before Vacation Court to be filed through e-filing only and said cases shall be heard through video conference only.For recording of evidence in criminal cases, physical appearance of the accused person in the court premises shall be prohibited.Only in cases of remand where accused is produced physically, the physical appearance of the advocate is permitted.Principal District and Sessions Judges/Chief Judges should as far as possible utilize bare minimum staff. Services of staff travelling from outside the headquarters shall not be utilized for attending the Court.Principal District and Sessions Judges/Chief Judges of these 5 districts shall make arrangement for hearing bail applications by judicial officers who reside in the district headquarters. All remand matters shall be considered by the jurisdictional magistrate in their respective locations..Further, the notification has directed that all bail applications/petitions shall be filed through e-filing only.
