The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) will hear cases through virtual mode from January 4 to January 21 in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases and the restrictions imposed by government authorities..An order to this effect was issued by S Hanumantha Rao (Joint Registrar, NCDRC), with approval of the President of the National Commission, on January 3, 2022."The cases listed before the Hon'ble Benches of the National Commission from January 4, 2022 onwards till January 21, 2022, shall be heard through Virtual Court hearing mode (video conferencing) only," the notification stated.Moreover, the notice directed the members of the National Commission to conduct virtual hearings of the cases from its premises.The Supreme Court and various High Courts and tribunals have already switched to virtual or hybrid modes of hearing in view of the spike in Omicron cases.The Jharkhand High Court has decided to function in virtual mode only from January 3, 2022 to January 14, 2022.The Madras High Court decided to switch back to virtual hearings of cases from January 3, 2022 till further orders.The Bombay High Court decided to hear matters through hybrid mode with effect from January 4, 2022 until further orders.The Calcutta High Court decided to hear cases through virtual mode only from January 3, 2022.The Delhi High Court reverted to full virtual hearing from January 3 to January 15, 2022, given the 'yellow alert' declared by the government in the national capital.The Allahabad High Court has taken similar measures as well..[Read Notification]
