The Delhi High Court on Monday agreed to hear tomorrow the plea filed by National Students Union of India (NSUI) seeking a special investigation team (SIT) probe into the violence committed against protestors protesting against CEC Gyanesh Kumar on October 10.
The matter was mentioned before acting Chief Justice Nitin Sambre who said that the case will be listed tomorrow.
The plea has sought directions to identify the persons involved in such violence and to take action against them as per law.
The plea has sought preservation of the CCTV footage of October 10 from 12 noon to 6:00 PM from all cameras at the Inner and Outer Circle of Connaught Place, Indira Chowk, the stretch outside Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan, Sansad Marg, Janpath and Jantar Mantar Road, and at the Rajiv Chowk, Janpath, Patel Chowk and Barakhamba Road Metro stations.
The persons assaulted should be traced, their statements recorded and they should be given adequate medical treatment and protection, the plea has further prayed.
The protests called by Cockroach Janta Party and Left parties in Delhi on October 10 had witnessed large scale detentions and police excesses.
The Supreme Court is also seized of a slew of petitions on the same issue.
It had held a special sitting on Sunday, October 11 to hear the matter and had passed directions barring unlawful detentions and restrictions on movement of people and traffic.
This is a developing story.
