Domestic Violence Act meant for immediate relief, not windfall for women: Jammu & Kashmir High Court

The High Court emphasised that before the grant of interim maintenance to an aggrieved woman, there must be some evidence to persuade the court to grant such relief.

The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (DV Act) is meant to provide immediate relief to aggrieved women and it does not envisage providing any windfall gains to the aggrieved, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court recently said.
