The Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association (GHCAA) has decided to abstain from court work indefinitely in protest against the proposed transfer of Justice Sandeep N Bhat from Gujarat High Court to Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium is considering transferring 14 High Court judges, including that of Justice Bhat. The Collegium is yet to release a public statement on the proposed transfers. But sources said only some minor formalities are pending before the list of proposed transfers is sent to the Union government in a day or two for confirmation.

Soon after news of the deliberations was published, the GHCAA called an Extraordinary General Body Meeting which was conducted on Tuesday afternoon.

Apart from the indefinite court boycott, it was decided to make a representation before the Supreme Court seeking revocation of the transfer proposal by sending a delegation consisting of GHCAA president Brijesh J Trivedi, Senior Advocates Mihir Joshi and Asim Pandya, and advocates Hardik Brahmbhatt and Dipen Dave.
