Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal to join Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission as its President

Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, who has resigned from the office of Judge of Delhi High Court, will join the Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission as its President. (Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal - GNCTD appointment Letter).Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal resigns from the office of Judge, Delhi High Court.The order of appointment issued by the Department of Food, Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Delhi Government reads, ."In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 16 of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (68 of 1986) read with Government of India, Ministry of Food and Civil Supplies, Notification No.1469(E) dated 15th May 1987 and in consultation with the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Delhi High Court vide letter dated the 28 August 2019, the Hon'ble Lt Governor of the NCT of Delhi is pleased to appoint Ms Sangita Dhingra Sehgal as President of Delhi Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on "whole time" basis with immediate effect .."Delhi Government .The terms and conditions of her appointment are as follows:.- The appointment shall be for a term of five years or till she attains the age of 67 years, whichever is earlier. - Justice Sehgal will be entitled to emoluments (salary, allowances and other pre-requisites) as are admissible to a sitting Judge of a High Court.- The other terms and conditions of service shall be regulated in accordance with the orders issued by the competent authority from time to time..In November 2019, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet had approved Justice Dhingra Sehgal's appointment as a member in the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for five years or until she attains the age of 65 years or until further orders..Any member of CCI is entitled to a salary of Rs.4,00,000/- per month (without any benefits of house and vehicle). The retirement age of a CCI Member is 65 years.However, the President of the Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission is entitled to receive the same Salary, allowances and other perquisites, as a sitting Judge of the high court.
