The Kerala High Court recently launched an initiative dubbed "Kerala High Court Daily Judgments" or the "KHJ-Daily", which provides daily access to fully certified reported judgments through WhatsApp..The specialized service, which is envisaged as a step to ensure equitable access to justice, was unveiled by Kerala High Court Chief Justice Ashish J Desai on July 27, 2024.Justice A Muhamed Mustaque, and Editorial Committee members Justice VG Arun, Justice CS Dias, Joseph Rajesh, (Director of IT), Jubiya A (Director of Kerala State Mediation and Conciliation Centre), Rakesh MG (Deputy Director of IT) also graced the occasion.This daily service will furnish certified reported judgments of the Kerala High Court to judges, the district judiciary, legal practitioners, law scholars, and the general public..This project follows the success of 'High Court Chronicles', a bilingual monthly newsletter that was launched in January this year. The newsletter was aimed at updating the legal community and the general public on important legal initiatives, events and High Court judgments.Since its inception, the High Court Chronicles has experienced exponential growth, amassing a significant following of over 15,000 email subscribers and more than 3,000 WhatsApp subscribers.KHJ-Daily will now be shared through the WhatsApp communities affiliated with Chronicles. .KHJ-Daily is the result of collaboration between the Chronicles Team and the IT Directorate. A dedicated team which includes an editorial committee of five reporters aim to ensure the timely dissemination of judgments through the KJH-Daily project.The editorial support and reporters team comprises of advocates S Krishna, Leo Lukose, Gayathri Muraleedharan, Girish Kumar, and Gajendra Singh Rajpurohit.The editorial committee will be able to swiftly access certified judgments on a specialised dashboard. Once a reportable judgment is uploaded, the team will craft concise summaries which will then be shared through WhatsApp.The "Kerala High Court Chronicles" and "KHJ - Daily" initiatives are aimed at enhancing legal reporting and education by harnessing technology to uphold the tenets of justice and transparency.
