The acquisition is with effect from January 1, 2015..Abhishek Pandurangi, founder and CEO of closer2patents, has now joined Khurana as a Partner, heading the Mumbai region. The firm previously had offices in Delhi, Pune and Bangalore..Speaking to Bar & Bench about the acquisition, Abhishek said,.“Closer2patents was formed in 2010, and our Mumbai-based and international clientele was being formed over the last five years. Khurana & Khurana were working with us for certain matters in Mumbai and we were working with them on certain matters in Delhi. I got in touch with Tarun Khurana and we talked about a possible merger, since they were looking to establish a stronger base in the Mumbai area.”.Abhishek started his career in 2007 with Gurgaon-based KPO Evalueserve, after which he joined Netscribes, where he developed an in-house IP team while pursuing his LL.B. One and a half years later, in 2010, he started closer2patents and became an advocate, practicing in the IPR field. He was also visiting faculty at the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, among others.
