Law Ministry issues corrigendum over omission of "Dr." from Justice S Muralidhar's name in Feb 26 transfer notification [Read Corrigendum]

The Union Law Ministry has issued a corrigendum to state that it had omitted to acknowledge Justice S Muralidhar's doctorate when it notified his transfer from the Delhi High Court to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The corrigendum states,

"The name "Shri Justice S. Muralidhar" mentioned in this Department's notification of even number dated 26th February, 2020, may be read as "Dr. Justice S. Muralidhar"."

Justice Muralidhar obtained his PhD from Delhi University in 2002, a few years prior to his elevation as a Delhi High Court judge in 2006.

His transfer to the Punjab and Haryana High Court was notified on February 26, roughly two weeks after the Collegium proposed the transfer.

Justice Muralidhar began his law practice in Chennai in September 1984. He shifted to Delhi to practice at the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court in 1987. He was appointed judge of the Delhi High Court in 2006.
