“Law is no trade, briefs no merchandise”, Madras HC hauls up Advocate for charging Champertous legal fees

The Madras High Court recently hauled up an advocate for attempting to bend the legal process in order to extract champertous legal fees. This, after he had relinquished the case brief, even endorsing a No Objection statement to allow his clients to engage another lawyer in his place.
