Debayan Roy

A 3 judge bench of the Supreme court led by Justice AM Khanwilkar will hold an urgent hearing on Sunday evening to hear a plea against the Rajasthan government's decision to hold state board exams for over 11 lakh Class X students from June 29 to June 30.

The plea by Maghi Devi, a resident of Bikaner and parent of an aggrieved student has moved the Court against the Division bench judgment of the Rajasthan High Court of May 29 whereby the court had allowed the state board exams stating that all central government safety rules and regulations would be followed.

The petition filed through Advocates Rishi Kapoor, Ashish Pandey and Advocate on Record Ronak Kanakpuria states that about 120 schools in the state, which would be examination centres, had been quarantine centres for the labours in transit.

The plea states that over 11,86,418 students would be exposed to the virus if they are allowed to appear for the exam.

Petitioner has further stated that most of the papers were over in March and that for two remaining papers exam would be held on June 29 and June 30.
