The Central government on Thursday notified the appointment of Allahabad High Court Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta as the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court..His appointment will follow the superannuation of incumbent Chief Justice G Narendar on January 9. A Supreme Court Collegium on December 18, 2025, had recommended Justice Gupta's elevation as Chief Justice.Today, Union law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced that the President has cleared the proposal to appoint Justice Gupta as the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court. "In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta, Judge, Allahabad High Court as Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of the office, consequent upon the superannuation of Shri Justice Guhanathan Narendar, present Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court on 09.01.2026," Meghwal said in a post on X. .Justice Gupta was the second senior-most judge of the Allahabad High Court. He completed his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Lucknow University in 1987, laying the foundation for a distinguished legal career.
