The plea also calls for the attachment and sale of properties of the above-mentioned persons and for disbursing the proceeds of such sale amongst the victims of the riots.
Notice to the Delhi Government, Delhi Police and the political leaders was was issued by the Division Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice C Hari Shankar in a Petition preferred by one, Deepak Madan.
Filed through Advocates Harsh Priya Singh and Arpit Bhalla, the petition asserts that riots in the city broke out after prominent political leaders made provocative hate speeches.
The petitioner states that he even made a hate speech complaint against the above-mentioned leaders, but no action was taken.
The petitioner has, therefore, also sought a direction to restrain political parties and persons from giving speeches and organising rallies till the situation is peaceful in Delhi.
