Justices Jasmeet Singh and Vikas Mahajan of Delhi High Court sit past 9 pm to hear cases

Justices Jasmeet Singh and Vikas Mahajan of the Delhi High Court sat beyond 9 pm on Monday to hear cases listed before them..The Delhi High Court is on summer-break and the two judges are part of the vacation-bench which have been designated to deal with the urgent matters during vacations.Justice Singh and Mahajan first sat together as part of division bench at around 10:30 am. Later, at around 3:30 pm, they sat separately as single-judge bench and heard cases.While Justice Mahajan rose at around 9:20 pm, Justice Singh heard sat till 9:50 pm. Justice Mahajan had 50 matters before him, Justice Singh had 48 cases. Justice Mahajan said that he will sit on Tuesday and hear the matters which could not be taken up today. Notably, Tuesday is not a working day for the High Court..Lawyers appearing before the two judges welcomed the gesture.Senior Advocate and Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) President, Mohit Mathur was appearing before Justice Mahajan in one of the matters at around 9pm when he suggested that the judge should now have his dinner and he can hear the remaining matters tomorrow. After this, the Court said it will take up the 15 matters on Tuesday since they could not be considered today..The two judges dealt with cases relating to demolition property, anticipatory bail matters, pleas demanding suspension of Look Out Circulars (LOCs) as well as copyright infringement cases and a batch of petitions dealing with Haj Group Organisers (HGOs)..This is not the first time that Justice Singh is holding Court beyond the normal working hours.
