Madras High Court seeks State's response to plea raising public safety concerns around TASMAC bars

The PIL said that since TASMAC outlets and attached bars shut at the same time, "last minute" purchasers end up drinking and creating a nuisance on public streets.

The Madras High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Tamil Nadu Prohibition and Excise Department and the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking uniform guidelines for consumption of liquor after closing hours of TASMAC shops and bars in the State.
