The constitutional organs - the legislature, the executive and the judiciary - along with the media, have to safeguard the democracy of the country, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said on Saturday..Thackeray compared 'democracy' to the roof of a structure which is held by pillars. The legislature, the executive, and the judiciary, along with the media form the four strong pillars which keep the roof (democracy) in place, he said. He added that it was important that the pillars do not collapse under pressure, lest democracy collapse. .He also expressed his hope and expectation that the pillars were strong enough to withstand the burden of the democracy of the country and the expectations of its citizens..The Chief Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the new annex building of the Bombay High Court's Aurangabad Bench..Responding to requests of judges for better judicial infrastructure, Thackeray assured Chief Justice of High Court Dipankar Datta and the other judges of an additional new building for the principal seat at Mumbai, at the earliest. He also assured the judges that the government would provide aid and assistance to ensure that speedy justice is delivered. .Commenting on delays in the justice delivery system, the Supreme Court's Justice DY Chandrachud shared an example of an accused who had been absconding since 1958. Referring to the Param Bir Singh complaint which opened up several investigations, Thackeray stated that the complainant had raised grievance and gone missing. .He added that there has to be some boundary set so that justice systems are not rendered over burdened. "It is true that crime has to be remedied at the earliest, but in my opinion, there has to be no crime. The courts should be rendered empty! There should be no disputes, no mens rea!" he said, concluding his address.
