The Supreme Court Collegium on July 12 recommended the appointment of a judicial officer and two advocates as judges of the Telangana High Court..The judicial officer recommended is Sujana Kalasikam while the advocates are Laxminarayana Alishetty and Anil Kumar Jukanti..The resolution of the Collegium said that the judicial officer belongs to a backward category. The High Court's Collegium had recommended her name for elevation on October 23, 2022..The Supreme Court Collegium then took the inputs of Supreme Court judges conversant with the particular High Court's affairs. "The consultee-judges have concurrently found the candidate to be suitable for appointment as a Judge of the High Court. The inputs provided in the file indicate that she enjoys a good personal and professional image and nothing adverse has come to notice with regard to her integrity. Besides, the candidate also belongs to the backward category," the resolution said.The Collegium also noted that proposal of Kalasikam's name would result in non-recommendation of some senior judicial officers. "We have scrutinised the reasons recorded by the High Court Collegium for not recommending their names and are in agreement with the same," the apex court Collegium stated.It, therefore, considered it fit to recommend Kalasikam for appointment to Telangana High Court..As regards the two advocates, the High Court Collegium had recommended their elevation in December 2022.
