Rhea Chakraborty had sought a transfer of the FIR registered against her in Patna to Mumbai in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
The Supreme Court will pronounce tomorrow, August 19, its decision on the transfer petition filed by Rhea Chakraborty seeking a transfer of the FIR registered in relation to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput from Patna to Mumbai.
A single Judge Bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy had reserved the order in the case on August 11 after hearing all the parties at length.
Senior Counsel Shyam Divan for Chakraborty and Senior Counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi for the State of Maharashtra had argued in favour of the investigation taking place in Mumbai, highlighting that the cause of action took place in Mumbai and that the FIR in Patna is a Zero FIR.
Senior Counsel Maninder Singh for the State of Bihar and Senior Counsel Vikas Singh for Rajput's father had argued that the investigation carried out by the Mumbai Police was without the registration of an FIR. Further, they also questioned the State's intention as regards a fair probe.
Arguments on the issue of Rajput's death and the investigation being politicised were made by both the sides with Singhvi also arguing that the case will not be heard of as much once the Bihar elections are over.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta argued in favour of the CBI taking over the probe in light of the State of Bihar handing over the investigation to the Central agency.
