Hearing at 1 AM at Justice Muralidhar Residence: Delhi HC directs Police to provide safe passage to injured victims to Govt hospitals

A special sitting was convened at midnight at the residence of Delhi High Court judge Justice S Muralidhar, where both Justice Muralidhar and Justice Anup Bhambhani were present, under the orders of Justice GS Sistani..The Plea was moved by one Rahul Roy for safe passage of injured victims of the riots from Al-Hind Hospital in New Mustafabad to other government hospitals with better facilities. The plea also sought for safe passage of the ambulances, both to Al Hind Hospital and to other hospitals..Counsel Suroor Mander appeared for the petitioner while Advocate Sanjoy Ghose represented the Delhi Police and the Government of Delhi. Also, present at the hearing were Joint Commissioner of Police and DCP (Crime).After hearing the parties and the doctor from Al Hind Hospital, the bench headed by Justice S Muralidhar directed the Delhi Police to ensure safe passage to injured victims and provide emergency treatment at government hospitals."The Court at this stage is primarily concerned with ensuring the safety of the lives of the injured and provide immediate medical attention....The Court accordingly directs Delhi Police to ensure such safe passage by deploying all the resources at its command and on the strength of this order and to ensure that apart from the safe passage, the injured victims receive immediate emergency treatment, if not at the GTB Hospital, then at the LNJP Hospital or Maulana Azad or any other government hospital.Delhi High Court.While the order was being dictated, the DCP (Crime) was informed that the police was in the process of evacuating the injured to the nearest hospital..The Bench has also directed the Delhi Police to submit a status report of compliance, including information about the injured victims and the treatment offered.
