[Omicron threat] Uttarakhand High Court notice to Election Commission on plea seeking postponement of assembly elections

The plea stated that Omicron variant is spreading at rapid pace in the midst of which political parties are conducting huge rallies thereby posing threat to lives of people.

The Uttarakhand High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on a plea seeking postponement of upcoming assembly elections in the State in view of the threat posed by Covid’s Omicron variant [Sachdanand Dabral v Union of India and Ors].
