Many bills are being passed by the parliament today without any discussion and debate, something quite unlike Ram Rajya, retired Supreme Court judge and National Human Rights Commission Chairperson Justice Arun Mishra said on Thursday..Ram Rajya refers to the period when Hindu God and king, Lord Ram, presided over India in an era perceived to exemplify a well-functioning society and polity and just rule. Justice Mishra, who was among the former judges part of the Ayodhya Ram Temple inauguration, said the Indian Constitution aims to preserve the legacy and ideals of that time."Nowadays we see that Parliament is not functioning; Bills are being passed without discussion, these did not happen during Ram Rajya," he said.He also said that Ram Rajya does not discriminate between religions or between poor and rich."Our Constitution's goal is to preserve Ram Rajya. Hence, it cares for all religions and calls for justice to all. Ram Rajya means social development and equity for all. "His janmasthan is now rightfully again part of our collective civilisation. He was maryada purushottam (most dignified man) and his values are relevant and alive even today. No one is more inspirational," he stated.The retired judge opined that Ram was a protector of human rights and Hindu religion or sanatana dharma (eternal faith) has the power to assimilate all faiths. "We all should aim to live and become like Ram, who is the protector of human rights. Sanatan Dharma has the power to assimilate all faiths. This is it's strength not weakness. Our Constitution protects these values of Ram Rajya."He also called for an egalitarian society which is not divided by caste. "Nowadays, we are divided by caste; Lord Ram believed in caste-less society," he saidJustice Mishra also underlined that Ram's message is peace for all and reminded the audience that India never invaded any other country or destroyed any culture."We are seeing deaths and destruction in the world; Ram's message for peace is all the more relevant now. Bharat never invaded a country or destroyed any culture. We are among the peaceful countries that respects international law in line with our cultural heritage."He also touched upon the environmental concerns faced by today's world."Nowadays we are destroying flora and fauna through use of plastics. These did not happen in Ram Rajya, which will be beneficial if it spreads in the whole world. One day it will definitely happen that everyone lives in love and harmony and all the constitutional goals are achieved....We all are worried about our environment today," he stated..Ayodhya judgment of Supreme Court has enabled right wing to lay claim to Gyanvapi, other mosques: Justice Gopala Gowda.The NHRC chief concluded by calling for a renewed focus on gender justice and women empowerment.
