Professor KVS Sarma has been appointed the Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Aurangabad. 

Professor Sarma had earlier taught at the NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, prior to his latest appointment. He had joined as an Assistant Professor of Law in 1999 at NALSAR. He was made Associate Professor in 2000 and designated a Professor in 2005.  Between 2008 and 2013, he also served on multiple occasions as the Registrar of NALSAR.

Among other roles, he was also a permanent member of NALSAR’s Academic Council, its Post Graduate Research Committee and Post Graduate Committee. Further, he has  served as member of the Boards of Studies at Tamil Nadu Ambedkar Law University, Chennai and the ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad, and a member of the Academic Council at the United World Law School, Gandhi Nagar.

Professor Sarma takes over from Vice-Chancellor in-charge, Prof (Dr) Kondaiah Jonnalagadda, who was given the charge of Acting Vice-Chancellor in 2018. Dr Jonnalagadda had taken charge as acting Vice-Chancellor after erstwhile Vice Chancellor Dr S Surya Prakash relinquished his post on his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of he Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU), Visakhapatnam

Established in 2017, MNLU Aurangabad is the third National Law School to be set up in Maharashtra, after MNLU Mumbai and MNLU Nagpur.
