Read the Delhi High Court’s order on Sasikala Pushpa’s plea against Facebook, Google et al

The Delhi High Court’s Justice R.K. Gauba has restrained Facebook India, Google, YouTube and Twitter from publishing any “morphed” photographs of recently expelled All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party MP Sasikala Pushpa.

According to her plaint, Sasikala received a call from an “unknown person” who threatened to upload “objectionable” photographs and videos on social media sites. Roughly a week later, she learnt that “morphed” and “fabricated” photos had been shared on social media, and hence was forced to approach the High Court.

Represented by senior counsel Sachin Puri with Amitesh Singh and Abhinav Rao, Sasikala sought an order restraining Facebook, Google, Youtube India, and Twitter India from publishing or broadcasting the photos in question.

The plea was granted, with the High Court stating,
