One student has got acceptance from two foreign universities; New York University (International Business Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration) and Oxford University (Bachelor of Civil Law) and has confirmed her admission in the latter, whereas another student has confirmed his admission at Nottingham University (LL.M). 6 students from the batch would also be preparing for the Judicial Services exam..Avani Bansal speaking to Bar & Bench on her admission to Oxford said, “Its a delightful moment for me to have a lifetime dream come true. I could not have made it to Oxford without the perennial support of my parents, teachers, colleagues and every single person at HNLU. I am indebted to the HNLU family for all lives to come and i believe that if you have the passion to live life and not just pass through it, no dream is impossible to realize”..Even though the placements have turned out well, the college did not see any recruiter hiring in large numbers with the highest recruiters being ICICI Bank and Pangea3 recruiting 3 students each. 3 students have opted for Judicial Clerkship in the Supreme Court. Besides the two organizations, all other recruiters have recruited only 1 or 2 students..The Recruitment Coordination Cell (RCC) complained of locational disadvantage with their campus being in Raipur. The firms were not keen on coming down to visit their campus. However, an astute recruitment cell found other ways to attract recruiters. After seeing the heavy number of PPOs being handed out in their fourth year, the students still waiting to be placed were made to intern for an extra period of one month (this was distinct from their regular winter internship) in their final year. The enterprising capabilities and hard work of the RCC worked well as almost 60 percent students got placed through PPOs..Speaking to Bar & Bench, Aditya Kutty (Member, RCC) said “We were certain that once we were put out there to showcase our practical skills, we would be adept at it and could compete with the best from any of the top law schools. Keeping this in mind, the internship-recruitment co-ordination arrangement was put forward, and as is evident from the statistics, it worked well to quite an extent”..Recruitment statistics of HNLU are as follows:
