The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has consituted a Special Bench at its Ahmedabad Bench for pronouncement of orders by the Bench's erstwhile members in the matters reserved by it.

This Special Bench would be constituted with effect from May 22 till May 29.

Vide two transfer orders issued in April and May, then Members of NCLT Ahmedabad, Prasanta Kumar Mohanty, Member (Technical) and HP Chaturvedi, Member (Judicial) were transferred.

The creation of the Special Bench has followed a representation made by the Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association to the Acting President, NCLT, requesting that the transfer orders qua the members at NCLT, Ahmedabad be kept in abeyance till the time the orders are pronounced in matters reserved by them.

In its Order passed today, the NCLT notified a new Bench of MB Gosavi, Member (Judicial) to hear urgent matters through video conferencing during the period of lockdown.

It, however, added stated that since the transferred Members were still physically present in Ahmedabad due to the lockdown, they would pronounce orders in matters reserved by them, in public interest.
