Supreme Court moots clubbing FIRs against Sharjeel Imam in different States

After ASG Raju said he has judgments to show that offences in the case against Imam are different, the Court adjourned the matter granting time to ASG to file his submissions.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday made a prima facie observation that there are multiple first information reports (FIRs) lodged against Sharjeel Imam in various States for the same speech in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots conspiracy case, and FIRs in States other than Delhi might have to be stayed to avoid multiplicity of proceedings for the same offence.
