  • Sushmita Dev vs Election Commission of India

Item 5 in Court 1 – W.P.(C) No. 579/2019

Bench: CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justices Deepak Gupta, and Sanjiv Khanna

This petition is filed by a Congress MP against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah stating that the two have violated the model code of conduct during the general elections. Petition seeks directions to the EC to take action against the two leaders.

Today in Court: The Supreme Court today directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to decide on the pending representations before it before May 6

  • Janhit Abhiyan vs Union of India

Item 2 in Court No. 2 – WP (C) No. 55/2019

Bench: Justices SA Bobde, Navin Sinha, and Indira Banerjee

This PIL challenges the Government’s decision to grant ten percent reservation to the members of the general category who belong to the Economically weaker sections.

  • Johnson & Johnson Pvt Ltd vs UOI

Item no. 15 in Court 7- W.P.(C) 13395/2018

Bench: Justice Vibhu Bakhru

The case pertains to J&J’s challenge to the Reports of the two Committees formed to examine the issues relating to its faulty Hip Implants. The two committees have determined the formula to compute the compensation for affected patients.

Today in Court: The Court directed J&J to pay Rs 25 lakh each to four patients.

The case pertains to Robet Vadra’s plea seeking to quash an enforcement case information report (ECIR) registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case.
