Wadia Ghandy’s Mumbai office is representing Karan Johar, the producer of the movie ‘Kurbaan’ to defend petitions that have been filed before the Bombay High Court demanding a stay on the release of the movie amongst other reliefs.

The matter scheduled for hearing yesterday, did not reach as Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice A.M. Khanvilkar discharged the court at 12 pm, as they had to travel on official duty. As the matter did not reach, the movie releases today on schedule.

Mohammed Ali, the petitioner, demanded that the film’s release be stayed or the film be released after deleting the two objectionable songs. “In one song, the two stars are having physical relations and the song (“Shukran Allah, Walhamdo Lillah…”) is played with them expressing gratitude to Allah. This is wrong and misleading,” Ali told IANS soon after emerging from the court. He also alleges that in another song (“Ali Maula”), the protagonist seeks the blessings of Allah to carry out a terrorist act.

Sushan Kunjuraman is representing Mohammed Ali. These songs have been chart busters and are supposed have accelerated music sales at the box office. Kunjuraman the author of ‘Criminal Practice – Legal Draft’ had recently also filed a police complaint against NDTV Imagine on the program ‘Pati Patni aur Woh’.

The father-son duo of Rahul Dwarkadas and Janak Dwarkadas are representing Karan Johar. Rahul Dwarkadas is a Senior Associate at Wadia Ghandy and his father is an established Senior Advocate.

Janak Dwarkadas has appeared in several bollywood disputes. More recently, he represented Ajay Devgn when his movie, ‘All the Best’ was facing copyright issues before the Bombay High Court.

Kareena’s bare-back in the posters is creating a buzz, generating publicity for the movie. Shiv Sena activists offered to send a sari to Kareena to which she retaliated by demanding a good sari if they are to send one.
