Bennett University wins Dr BR Ambedkar Debate Competition hosted by Law Ministry, IIULER Goa bags second prize

Maanasi Pilla and Nandini Kaushik represented Bennett University while Tejaswini Satheesh and Pratham Pedaparthi represented IIULER at the competition.

A team from the School of Law, Bennett University recently emerged as the winners of Dr BR Ambedkar Debate Competition organized by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice, while India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), Goa bagged the second prize.

Maanasi Pilla and Nandini Kaushik represented the Bennett University and secured the first place, while Tejaswini Satheesh and Pratham Pedaparthi won the second place on behalf of IIULER, Goa.

The Dr BR Ambedkar Debate Competition was organized by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice in collaboration with the Indian Law Institute as part of the Constitution Day celebrations hosted by the government in New Delhi.

The topic for the debate was Limits to Liberty – Fundamental Rights vs Fundamental Duties. The event was organised in the Plenary Hall of the Indian Law Institute.

Jagdeep Dhankar, Vice President of India; Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Law; Justice (retired) Ritu Raj Awasthi, Chairperson of the Law Commission; Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General of India; and Justice (retired) Arun Kumar Mishra, Chairperson of the NHRC were present for the prize distribution ceremony.

The cash prize for the first and second position for the event was ₹ 50,000 and ₹ 30,000 respectively.

More than fifteen teams hailing from diverse law schools, including National Law Universities (NLUs) from across the nation, participated in the competition.
