A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against 5 students of Indian Law Society (ILS) Law College, Pune for ragging.

The complainant, a second year LL.B. student, has alleged ragging by the 5 students in the boys' hostel.

The complainant mentions in the FIR that he approached ILS Principal Deepa Paturkar, who heard his concerns at length but did not take action based on it.

The FIR mentions that the complainant was targeted for quite some time for having raised alarms about boys who were smoking in the hostel. The complainant's room was also vandalised with gutka spit, eggs and the glass of his window was broken.

He outlined how he was targeted and the effects it had on his academics and mental health. Even after repeatedly contacting the Principal and a member of the administration and submitting a written complaint, no action was taken, he claimed.

The complainant then resorted to filing a complaint with the UGC Anti-Ragging helpline, which then prompted Paturkar to constitute a two-member committee to inquire into the incidents. The report did not find conclusive evidence of ragging.

Being unsatisfied with the inquiry report, and still having to face his bullies in the hostel, the student then approached the police.
