Lloyd Law College, Noida has won the International Trademark Association (INTA) Asia-Pacific Moot Court Competition held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on February 8 and 9.

Lloyd Law College was represented by a team of Ishmita Jindal, Arpit Jain and Ankit Mishra. Competing against 39 teams from the Asia-Pacific region, they won the awards of Best Team and Best Brief, taking home a total of $4,500 in prize money.

Symbiosis Law School, Noida secured the second place and Best Oral Arguments was awarded to Pranav Aggarwal from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab.

The moot revolved around the use of trademarks in the gaming industry. The arguments ranged from foundational trademark issues including infringement, likelihood of confusion, prior rights and unfair competition.

Delhi High Court judge Justice Prathiba M Singh served a judge of the final round and remarked,

"Trademark law has many complex legal principles and this kind of IP moot court hosted by INTA is a commendable step towards expanding knowledge of trademarks law.”

Delhi High Court judge Justice Navin Chawla, who also judged the final round of oral judgments, stated,

“The teams displayed a very high level of preparation. This is also the most important aspect of being in the legal profession—that one must always be prepared and be poised. Moot courts are fun but judging the two brilliant teams [in the final round] and deciding on the winner was very tough.”
