As recruitment season for the Batch of 2025 concludes across law schools, early data indicates significant hiring by India's law firms.
While some firms have maintained an intake consistent with previous years, others appear to have scaled back amid broader market uncertainties.
Across law firms, hiring is concentrated through Day Zero processes from law schools or via pre-placement offers (PPOs).
Let's take a look at how Indian law firms have hired this year.
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) has onboarded hired 170 freshers.
Khaitan & Co has hired 106 freshers across 31 law schools. The number of female hires is 57 and the number of male hires is 49. The annual compensation paid to freshers is ₹23,00,000 per annum.
Trilegal has onboarded 80 plus freshers in the range of ₹19,50,000 per annum. They have hired freshers from NLSIU Bangalore, MNLU Mumbai and NLUO Cuttack, among other law schools.
Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) has made 70 campus recruits and offered a compensation of ₹20,00,000 per annum.
J Sagar Associates has welcomed close to 50 freshers and offered packages that average at ₹15,70,000 per annum.
CMS Induslaw has hired 31 freshers from 18 law schools. They hired 7 through Day Zero processes, 20 through PPOs, and the rest through self-applications.
The firm's Delhi office led the recruitment with 11 hires, followed by Bengaluru with 10. The Mumbai office onboarded 8 freshers, while the Chennai and Hyderabad offices each welcomed 1 fresher.
S&R Associates has selected 21 freshers from the Batch of 2025.
Argus Partners has onboarded 14 freshers across top law schools for their corporate, mergers & acquisitions, finance and disputes teams. Freshers will receive a starting salary of ₹18,00,000 per annum with compensation based on office location.
S&A Law Offices has hired 13 freshers from the Batch of 2025.
