Luthra advises Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals on JV with Zambia

Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with the Government of the Republic of Zambia.

Luthra and Luthra Law Offices India advised Akums on this partnership. The Firm provided comprehensive legal assistance to Akums throughout the transaction.

The engagement team was led by Senior Partner Girish Rawat and Associate Sayali Dodal, who advised on the overall transaction structure and documentation.

The partnership involves setting up a local manufacturing unit in Zambia and to undertake the manufacturing and supply of medicines in Zambia, with the objective of supporting Zambia Government's national health programs and enhancing local production capabilities in Zambia.

The project will be implemented through incorporation of a joint venture company in Zambia, in which Akums will hold a 51% stake as the majority partner, while a nominated Zambian state instrumentality will hold the remaining 49% stake.
