Simpson Thacher, Davis Polk act on Allen & Overy-Shearman & Sterling merger

The proposed merged entity will have over 800 Partners in 49 offices around the world.

As reported earlier, Allen & Overy and Shearman & Sterling have announced a planned merger to create a $3.4 billion law firm with over 800 Partners in 49 offices around the world.

The merged firm will be named Allen Overy Shearman Sterling (A&O Shearman for short).

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is serving as legal counsel to Allen & Overy, while Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP advised Shearman & Sterling.

The proposed merger is subject to customary closing conditions, including a vote of the Partners of each of the respective firms.
