Senior Advocate Rajeev Ranjan appointed Advocate General of Jharkhand

Senior Advocate Rajeev Ranjan has reportedly been appointed the new Advocate General for the State of Jharkhand. A notification intimating the same was issued by the Government on Friday.

Ranjan's appointment follows the resignation of Ajit Kumar, the previous Advocate General of Jharkhand a little over a month back. Kumar had put in his resignation papers in December last year, following a change in the State's ruling regime.

Kumar had resigned citing personal reasons. Simultaneously, he had also resigned from his erstwhile post as Chairman of the Jharkhand State Bar Council.

As per reports, the Governor of Jharkhand accepted the Kumar's resignation from the post of Advocate General on February 6. In his place, Senior Advocate Ranjan has been appointed as the State's top law officer until further orders.
