Chhattisgarh Advocate General and Senior Advocate Prafull Bharat has resigned from the post, effective November 17.
In a letter addressed to the State's Governor, Bharat said,
"I acknowledge with gratitude the cooperation which I received from Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and his Cabinet colleagues. I also acknowledge the cooperation of the team of bureaucrats for rendering cooperation in performing the difficult task of defending the interests of a welfare State before the Hon'ble High Court and Supreme Court of India."
Bharat enrolled with Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh, Jabalpur in 1992. He initially practiced at the Jagdalpur district court and thereafter, at the High Court of Madhya Pradesh from 1995 to 2000. He subsequently practiced at the High Court of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur from November 2000 onwards.
He served as Additional Advocate General for Chhattisgarh, during the tenure of the former Chief Minister Raman Singh from 2014 till 2018. He was designated as a Senior Advocate in June 2021 and appointed as Advocate General in January 2024.
