CLAT 2021 to be held in offline mode on May 9, applications from January 1
The next edition of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2021) will be held on May 9, in offline mode.
A notification published in newspapers by the Consortium of National Law Universities states that the offline conduct of the exam will be "subject to revision in case of necessity", in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Online applications for the exam will be available from January 1. The last date for submission of online applications is March 31, 2021.
Those students who secured 45% marks or higher in their 10+2 exams will be eligible to appear for CLAT 2021. The cut-off is 40% for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates.
The application fee for the exam is Rs. 4,000 (Rs. 3,500 for SC/ST candidates).
As announced earlier, Prof (Dr.) Vijender Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur is the Convener for CLAT 2021.
Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR Hyderabad, Prof (Dr.) Faizan Mustafa is the new President of the Executive Committee of the Consortium of NLUs, while NLU Jodhpur Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr.) Poonam Saxena is the new Vice-President.
Last year's exam was marred by controversy after National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore attempted to pull out of CLAT and introduce a separate entrance exam, the National Law Aptitude Test (NLAT).
The Supreme Court, however, quashed the conduct of the NLAT, and directed NLSIU to conduct admissions to its courses this year through CLAT.
